Product Description:
Cory Weeds' previous recordings for Cellar Live all swing and swing hard. ''It's Easy To Remember'' is no different.
Recorded live at Smalls Jazz Club in Greenwich Village, tenor saxophonist Cory Weeds, pianist David Hazeltine who also serves as musical director for the project, trumpeter Joe Magnarelli, bassist Paul Gill and drummer Jason Tiemann, swing hard through a set of original compositions, cleverly arranged standards and a gem from pianist Kenny Drew.
Sophisticated arrangements of It's Easy To Remember and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes are complimented by some beautiful original compositions including Hazeltine's Bossa For All, Weeds' nod to the great Harold Mabern, The Mabe, and a sublime ballad written by a dear friend of Weeds' called Candyman. Kelp and Expose are both written by the late saxophonist, pianist and Weeds' biggest mentor Ross Taggart. Emily, gets a complete re-working here and showcases Hazeltine's ability as an arranger. Rounding out the program is Kenny's Drew's With Prestige that was originally recorded by the great Art Farmer with tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley.
