Product Description:
Several years after his much-publicized divorce from Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Sr. returned to network television as a producer, this time with the NBC situation comedy THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW. The program followed the interaction between two very different Los Angeles-area couples whose college-age children happened to be married to one another. The Hubbards (Eve Arden and Herbert Rudley) were conservative, conventional and polished; Herb worked as a well-to-do attorney, while Eve was the ultimate homemaker. Kaye and Roger Buell, on the other hand (Kaye Ballard played the former, while Roger Carmel and Richard Deacon took turns playing the latter) were comparatively left-of-center: Roger worked as a television scriptwriter, while Kaye specialized in being opinionated and demanding. The couples became friends despite their different approaches to life, and many of the premises of individual episodes sprang from the culture clash-laden dynamic between them. This set contains the entire two-season 56-episode series as it originally aired, with a host of bonus supplements.
