Entertainment Reviews:
[An] excellent new Davis biopic....[The film captures] its subject’s musical genius while still delivering a quick-paced plot...
The Atlantic
3.5 stars out of 4 -- [It's the] impressionistic flavor that gives the film its crackling, memorable energy.

Rating: 4/5 --
Cheadle -- directing his first feature -- creates a film whose nerve its hero would surely admire.

Financial Times
Cheadle demonstrates some talent behind the camera, especially in the film’s deliberately jagged leaps from present to past and back again....He’s also predictably charismatic as Davis, capturing the man’s raspy voice, hard stare, and infinite swagger.
A.V. Club
[Such] pat psychologizing of a notoriously complex personality undercuts the swirling chaos of the 80s narrative.

Chicago Reader
An occasionally ridiculous film about a man who was far from ridiculous.

Rating: B- --
Cheadle embodies Davis in every way, down to his famously furtive and mercurial physicality, his lack of eye contact and his raspy voice.

Product Description:
Don Cheadle co-wrote, directed, and stars in this biopic of legendary jazz musician Miles Davis, which takes a free-form approach to its subject's life that mirrors his playing style. As the story skips around in time, it depicts Davis' attempts to get his career back on track following a period of listlessness and drug addiction in the '70s, his relationship with a journalist (Ewan McGregor) who wants to profile him, and his troubled marriage to a former dancer (Emayatzy Corinealdi). Michael Stuhlbarg co-stars.
