Entertainment Reviews:
What is sure in calling this film Truth is setting it up for a fall that no stellar cast can save it from. Cate Blanchett comes at it with a fiery passion but in truth unless you know the whole story it is just someone's version of events.

Battle Royale With Cheese
Rating: 2/5 --
Far from taking any risks, Truth is not the biographical account Rather and Mapes deserved.

Taking itself so seriously, Truth may not score big with all cinemagoers, but you'd be hard pushed to not at least be reasonably won over by the excellent ensemble cast of characters.

One Room With A View
3 stars out of 4 -- Redford gives the best performance in the film, finding Rather’s gravitas without doing an impersonation. It’s a nuanced portrayal...

Truth boasts another juggernaut by Cate Blanchett that is buoyed by an incredibly strong adaptation of [Mary] Mapes' book, eliciting all the intricate minutiae and ethics of not only investigative journalism but the absurdity of corporate blinders.

While it's not flawless, having Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett onscreen should make us curious at least to see and hear the Truth.

Product Description:
James Vanderbilt wrote and directed this docudrama about the controversial 60 MINUTES exposé on then-president George W. Bush's military service that aired just before the 2004 election. Cate Blanchett stars as Mary Mapes, the producer of CBS's newsmagazine series 60 MINUTES, which was anchored at the time by the legendary Dan Rather (Robert Redford). Mapes gets a tip from a new source who claims to possess explosive documents proving that Bush received privileged treatment in the National Guard to avoid service in the Vietnam War. After the documents are presented to the American people, a whirlwind of controversy about the their veracity pits Mapes and Rather in a battle for their journalistic lives. Topher Grace, Dennis Quaid, and Elizabeth Moss co-star in this ensemble journalistic thriller.
