Description by OLDIES.com:
When Pocahontas (Jody Lawrance) agrees to marry two-fisted adventurer Captain John Smith (Anthony Dexter), she does so to create a lasting bond between her people and the settlers of Jamestown. Seeing their union as a marriage of convenience, Smith is reluctant at first to return her love, but soon comes to realize how much he cares for the beautiful Indian princess. So when her jealous ex-lover, Opechanco (Stuart Randall), decides to break the truce and wipe out the colony, he murders Pocahontas' brother before he can warn the tribe. Claiming the right to avenge his wife, Smith challenges Opechanco to a knife-and-tomahawk fight, a battle to the death that will not only determine Smith and Pocahontas' fate, but that of the New World as well.
Product Description:
This early, low-budget dramatization of the legend of Pocahontas sees Captain John Smith (Anthony Dexter) appearing before the court of King James II to tell his story. He recounts his efforts to create harmony between the British settlers and the Indians in the New World. On the brink of being put to death by the Indian chief, the Captain is saved by the beautiful Indian princess, Pocahontas (Jody Lawrance). Smitten with the newcomer, she steps up to defend him, and offers to marry him instead. These plans are impeded by Pocahontas's former lover, Opechanco (Stuart Randall), who decides to break the settlers' truce with the Indians and kills the Princess's brother in the process. Ultimately, Smith and Opechanco engage in a battle that will determine both Pocahontas's fate, and the fate of the settlers' relations with the natives of the New World.
